How to File a Police Report
The Tyler Police Department is a community-oriented police agency and, as such, is dedicated to providing the best possible service to the citizens of Tyler. Our employees strive to make your contact with our department as professional, courteous, and informative as possible.
To assist you with filing a police report and what options are available to you, please read the following guidelines:
- Emergency: All emergency calls in the City of Tyler should be directed to the 911 center. If you can't call, and an emergency prevents you from calling 911, you may also text your emergency to 911 from a mobile phone.
- Non-Emergency: If you wish to speak to an officer and have them come to your location, dial (903) 531-1000.
Emergency and non-emergency telephone operations are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may also come to the Tyler Police Department, located at 711 W. Ferguson St., to file a report 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
For the deaf or hearing-impaired, there is a videophone at the Ferguson Police Station, 711 W. Ferguson St., to submit a police report.
You may file a police report with our Telephone Reporting Unit personnel if it is one of the following categories:
- Forgery / Credit Card Abuse
- Found Property (walk-in)
- Criminal Trespass
- Additional Information
To file a case of Harassment, please download and complete the form(PDF, 1MB) and then contact us at (903) 531-1000 to be scheduled for a telephone report, or bring it to the north or south police stations for a report to be made in person
