Hiring Procedures
A Police Officer applicant must complete the following items:
- Civil Service Examination (You must score 70% or higher)
- Placement on the eligibility list based on test score
- Applicant checked for automatic disqualifiers: (criminal history check and driving history check)
- Conditional Job Offer given by the Chief of Police
- Ride-Along Program
- Medical Examination
- Physical Testing:
- 1.5-mile run (under 18 minutes, 48 seconds)
- 300-meter run (under 76 seconds)
- 18 push-ups (no time limit)
- 16 sit-ups (within 1-minute time limit)
- Able to press 62% of body weight (1 rep)
- Agility run (under 22 seconds)
- Vertical jump (minimum 14.5 inches)
- Hearing Test
- Vision Test
- Psychological Examination
- Background Investigation
- Polygraph Examination
- Departmental Review Board Interview
- Drug Screen (to be conducted, [unannounced] during hiring process)
