The property and evidence specialists are responsible for the intake, processing, and disposal of all property and evidence taken in by the police department.
Rules to Know for Release of Property
All property that is not considered evidence and has been approved for release by the investigating detective may be released back to the owner. In order to remove property, you must first call to schedule an appointment. Property will only be released on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Release of Vehicle
- You must present proof of Ownership.
- You must present proof of Insurance.
- You must present a valid Driver’s License.
- You must pay a tow fee of $175, payable in cash or check.
Item Release
- You must present a photo ID. (Driver’s License, Texas ID, Student ID, Passport)
- You may authorize someone else to pick up your property by completing a property release form.
- This form can be submitted using the form below.
- You must call to schedule an appointment and submit the form.
Firearm Release
- A background check must be completed before the release of any firearm.
Weekends
- No property will be released on weekends because the Property Department is closed.
