Assistant Chief Steve Sharron is a twenty five year veteran of the Tyler Police Department and has served as one of three Assistant Chiefs since 2001. As Assistant Chief, he currently commands the following units listed below: 

  • Crimes Against Person Unit 
  • Crimes Against Property Unit 
  • Fraud Crime Unit 
  • Juvenile Crime Unit 
  • Vice Unit 
  • Crime Scene Unit 
  • K - 9 Unit 
  • Bike Unit 
  • Communications (911) Unit 
  • Community Response Unit
  • D.A. Liaison

Assistant Chief Sharron is a graduate of University of Texas at Tyler with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and received a Masters degree in Administration Leadership from University of Oklahoma . He also holds Master Peace Officer certification from the State of Texas.

Assistant Chief Sharron is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) National Academy, 218th session, Quantico, Virginia. He is a graduate of the School of Police Supervision (The Southwestern Law Enforcement Institute), FTO Management Training School (Northwestern University) and the Leadership Command College (LEMIT).
