The Citizens On Patrol (COP) Program is intended to bring members of Tyler's neighborhoods together as the "eyes and ears" of their community while providing information to help the Police Department's law enforcement efforts.
Participants in the COP program are citizens who have an interest in actively patrolling their own neighborhoods with the purpose of observing and reporting suspicious, criminal or dangerous activity.
Training for each citizen participant will include a four hour class conducted by Tyler Police Officers and at least one eight hour ride-along with a patrol officer. Participants will receive periodic updates on general topics of police functions such as: safety, legal issues, communications, property offenses, patrol procedures, gang activity and other issues as needed.
All citizens interested in becoming a part of the COP program are required to complete an application. To download an application, click here: APPLICATION.
